closing the books

School is OUT! Ella is no longer a Kindergartner and Jocie is no longer a 6th grader. I have finished my 8th year of teaching. For the next three months, there will be:

no more lesson planning
no more assessment development
no more grading
no more classroom management
no more packing lunches
no more hectic "school mornings"
no more equally as hectic "school nights"
no more paying the daycare bill
no more staff meetings
no more 6:00 am alarm clocks ringing

For the next three months, there will also be:

more morning coffee
more playing outside
more summer activities
more driving kids around
more cook-outs on the grill
more SUN
more going to the beach
more going to the lake
more family vacations
more bike rides
more parks
more drinks on the patio
more play dates
more hangin' with friends
more novel reading
more being a "stay at home mom"
and more FUN

After teacher in-service tomorrow, I will be free and clear until late August! Today we said good-bye to students, and it is always a little bitter sweet. But, I am lucky (for the most part) because I know I will see many of them next year!

So for now - GOODBYE students, and HELLO summer!!
